SAWDEY, David, a Representative from Erie County; born, February 14, 1783 in Tiverton, Newport County, RI; blacksmith; whaler; ship captain and shipping merchant; general merchant; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Albion (1823-1844); elected, as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1837-1838 term; elected, commissioner, Erie County (1841-1844); farmer; died, December 6, 1857 in Conneaut Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania; interred, Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
