STERIGERE, John Benton, a Representative from Montgomery County; born, October 13, 1793 in Upper Dublin Township, Montgomery County, Pa.; school teacher; appointed, justice of the peace, Montgomery County (1818-1821); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1821-1822, 1822-1823, 1823-1824 and 1824-1825 terms; lawyer (1829-1852); elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1837-1838); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1839-1840, 1844-1846); elected, Speaker of the Senate (1845); owner, Norristown Register (1849-1852); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1852); died. October 13, 1852 in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; interred, Upper Dublin Lutheran Church Cemetery, Ambler, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
