SECKEL (SICKEL), George Lawrence, a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, May 11, 1747 in Philadelphia County, Pa.; served, 4th Company, 3rd Battalion, Philadelphia City Milita (1778, Revolutionary War); meat and foods grocer; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives for the 1788-1789 and 1789-1790 terms; reelected to the House as a Federalist for the 1790-1791, 1794-1795, 1795-1796, 1796-1797, 1797-1798 and 1798-1799 terms; died, March 6, 1823 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Churchyard, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; removed to Laurel Hill East Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
