COCHRAN, William, a Representative from Dauphin County; born, 1780 in Middle Paxton Township, Lancaster County (now Dauphin County); lieutenant colonel, First Brigade, 1st and 152nd Regiments, Pennsylvania Milita (1814, War of 1812); unsuccessful campaign, coroner, Dauphin County (1816); elected, coroner, Dauphin County (1819-1821); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1821-1822, 1822-1823 and 1823-1824 terms; elected, commissioner, Dauphin County (1827-1828, 1834-1835); elected, sheriff, Dauphin County (1836-1839); died, April 26, 1840 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Dauphin Cemetery, Dauphin, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
