RUTHERFORD, John, a Representative from Dauphin County; born, January 15, 1774 in Paxtang, Lancaster County (now Dauphin County), Pa.; surveyor, Presque Isle Land Company; land developer; farmer; elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1817-1818 term; died, May 1, 1832 in Upper Swatara Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Paxton Presbyterian Churchyard, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
