STANLEY, Matthew, a Representative from Chester County; born, 1762 in Pennsylvania; general, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); farmer; tavern keeper (1792-1800); appointed, justice of the peace (1798); director, Bank of Chester County (1814); elected as a Democrat / Anti-Mason to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1829-1830 term; died, June 15, 1844 in West Brandywine Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Forks of the Brandywine Presbyterian Church, Glenmoore, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
