LEWIS, Elijah, a Representative from Chester County; born, May 2, 1778 in Pennsylvania; farmer; elected, auditor, Chester County (1817); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1821-1822, 1822-1823 and 1823-1824 terms; appointed, justice of the peace (1827); elected, commissioner, Chester County (1836); died, September 2, 1861 in Willistown, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Willistown Friends Cemetery, Willistown Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
