RANKIN, William, a Representative from Centre, Clearfield and McKean Counties; born, November 5, 1770 in Franklin County, Pa.; farmer; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Centre County (1800); elected, sheriff, Centre County (1804-1806); elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1806-1807, 1807-1808, 1808-1809 and 1809-1810 terms; died, November 29, 1847 in Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
