EVANS, Samuel, a Representative from Fayette County; born, June 5, 1800 in Springhill, Fayette County, Pa.; graduated, Jefferson College (now, Washington and Jefferson College), 1818; colonel, Pennsylvania Militia; attorney (1821-1887); farmer; engaged, real estate; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for 1827-1828 and 1828-1829 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1829-1830 term; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1830); elected, school director, Uniontown (1835, 1836); died, December 18, 1887 in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oak Groce Cemetery, South Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
