DAVIDSON, William, a Representative of Fayette County; born, February 14, 1783 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pa.; served, Gen. William Hull’s Regiment, United States Infantry (1812-1813, War of 1812: Prisoner of War, 1812); surveyor; merchant; farmer; manager, Laurel Ironworks; ironmaster, Finley Furnace & Iron Works; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1814-1815, 1816-1817 and 1817-1818 terms; elected, Speaker (1817-1818); died, March 2, 1867 in Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hill Grove Cemetery, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
