HAINES, Henry, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, December 8, 1759 in Lancaster County, Pa.; ensign, Continental Army (1776-1779, Revolutionary War); tailor apprentice; justice of the peace, Maytown (1797); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1804-1805 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1805, 1806, 1808, 1809, 1812, 1813, 1821); unsuccessful campaign, commissioner, Lancaster County (1807); reelected to the House for the 1810-1811, 1811-1812, 1825-1826 and 1828-1829 terms; died, February 1, 1842 in Maytown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Maytown Union Cemetery, Maytown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
