MAYER, George, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, August 3, 1781; lieutenant colonel, Lancaster Phalanx Company, Pennsylvania Militia (1812-1814, War 1812); hardware merchant and wrought iron hardware inventor; elected as an Anti-Mason to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1835-1836 term; died, September 9, 1862 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Woodward Hill Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
