PORTER, John, a Representative from Huntingdon County, Pa.; born, September 9, 1797 in Alexandria, Huntingdon County, Pa.; adjutant, 29th Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia; merchant; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1831-1832 term; unsuccessful reelection to the House for the 1832-1833 term; commissioner, Pennsylvania Railroad Co. (1846); died, March 24, 1881 in Pennsylvania Furnace, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery, Alexandria, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
