OWENS, John, a Representative from Huntingdon County; born, circa 1789 in Pennsylvania; plasterer (1821); engaged in manufacture and trade (1840); unsuccessful campaign, auditor, Huntingdon County (1821); unsuccessful campaign, commissioner, Huntingdon County (1827); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1828-1829 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1829-1830 term; elected, chief burgess, Birmingham (1831-1835, 1872, 1874-1876); director of public schools (1836, 1839); justice of the peace (1850-1880); died, July 24, 1880 in Birmingham, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Birmingham Cemetery, Birmingham, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
