ADAMS, Joseph, a Representative from Huntingdon County; born, November 3, 1787 in Lost Creek, Mifflin (now Juniata) County, Pa.; captain, Huntingdon County company, Pennsylvania Militia (1813, War of 1812); general merchant (1808-1818); farmer (1818-1834); director, Huntingdon Bank (1819-1820); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1825-1826 term; appointed, associate judge, Huntingdon County (1826-1846); elected, delegate, State Democratic Convention (1828); engaged, coal business; appointed, weighmaster, Pennsylvania Canal (1834); unsuccessful campaign, judge, Jo Daviess County, Il.
