ROYER, Samuel, a Representative from Huntingdon County; born, July 10, 1792 in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pa.; manager, Cove Forge (1810-1814); merchant (1815-1823); elected, auditor, Woodberry Township, Huntingdon County (now Blair County) (1817); ironmaster; owner, Springfield Furnace and Franklin Forge (1820-1856); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Williamsburg, Huntingdon (now Blair) County (1820) and Springfield Township, Huntingdon County (1823-1831, 1834-1844); elected as an Anti-Mason to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1832-1833 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1833-1834 term; delegate, National Anti-Mason Convention (1836); owner, canal boats, Union Transportation Line (1836); delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1837-1838); elected, school director, Woodberry Township (1856); died, September 3, 1856 in Springfield Furnace (now Royer), Blair County, Pennsylvania; interred, Royer Cemetery, Royer, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
