MADDEN, James, a Representative from Union County; born, October 7, 1787 in Dauphin County, Pa.; weaver; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Hartleton (1814-1819, 1854-1855); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1825-1826 and 1826-1827 terms; appointed, justice of the peace (1831); school teacher; appointed deputy surveyor, Union County (1846); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1850); died, November 19, 1855 in Hartleton, Union County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hartleton Union Church Cemetery, Hartleton, Union County, Pennsylvania.
