STILWELL, Joseph, a Representative from Union County; born, circa 1778 in Pennsylvania; school teacher; bridge and road surveyor; elected, treasurer, Union County (1817); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1817-1818 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1818); unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Union County (1819); appointed, prothonotary and clerk of oyer and terminer and quarter sessions, Union County (1821- 1824, 1830-1836); justice of the peace (1823); farmer; associate judge, Union County (1843-1848); died, August 22, 1851 in New Berlin, Union County, Pennsylvania; interred, New Berlin Cemetery, New Berlin, Union County, Pennsylvania.
