EVANS, Griffith, a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, September 3, 1760 in Warwick Township, Chester County, Pa; private, hospital clerk and store keeper, Pennsylvania Militia (Revolutionary War); lawyer; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1806, 1808); elected, assistant assessor, Philadelphia (1807); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1817-1818 term; delegate, State Democratic Republican Convention (1828); director, Girard Bank (1834); died, January 20, 1845 in Penn Township (now Philadelphia), Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
