McILVAINE, Joseph B., a Representative from Philadelphia City; born, 1796 in Burlington, Burlington County, NJ; lawyer; secretary, Pennsylvania board of canal commissioners; elected, recorder, Philadelphia (1830-1835); president of the board, Oxford Rail Road Company (1833); director, Cecil County Rail Road Company (1835); trustee, Girard College (1835-1838); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1836-1837 and 1837-1838 terms; died while in office, January 15, 1838 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
