ANDERSON, Sarah A., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Jacksonville, Duval County, Fl., January 25, 1901; graduated, Philadelphia High School for Girls; graduated, Philadelphia Normal School; teacher, Philadelphia public schools; member, 30th Ward Democratic Committee; inspector, Philadelphia Elections Board; member, 44th Ward Executive Committee; judge, 24th Division Election Board; member, District 1, Democratic Executive Committee; legislative consultant, United States Department of Veterans Affairs; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1955 term and was reelected for 8 consecutive terms thereafter; alternate delegate, National Democratic Convention (1956); elected, delegate, National Democratic Convention (1960); appointed member: Commission on Philadelphia School Charter, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Governor’s Commission on Status of Women, Governor’s Council on Drugs, Governor’s Task Force on Human Services, State Advisory Committee on Mental Health/Mental Retardation; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1973 term; died, December 9, 1992 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
