WAYNE, William, a Representative from Chester County; born (William Evans), December 6, 1828 in Easttown, Chester County, Pa.; graduated, University of Pennsylvania, 1846; captain, Company K, 97th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); farmer; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1880, 1882, and 1884; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1886); died, November 20, 1901 in Paoli, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Saint David Church Cemetery, Wayne, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
