SMITH, Earl Herbert, a Representative from Chester and Lancaster Counties; born in Coatesville, Chester County, Pa., June 8, 1909; graduated, Coatesville High School; line foreman; construction foreman, Bell Telephone Company (38 years); field engineer, public utility industry; school director, Coatesville Area School District (30 years); secretary and president, West Caln Township School Board; vice president, King’s Highway Joint School Board; vice president, Brandywine Area Joint School Board; vice president, Coatesville-Brandywine Area Joint Board for Scott Senior High School; vice president, Coatesville Area School Board; treasurer, Chester County Board of School Directors (12 years); director and vice president, Coatesville Chamber of Commerce; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1972; served 4 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1982); died, June 15, 1987 in Caln Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fairview Cemetery, South Coatesville, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
