WAUGH, Michael L., a Representative from York County; born in York, York County, Pa., December 17, 1955; graduated, Chambersburg Area Senior High School, 1974; attended, The Pennsylvania State University; attended, Pennsylvania State Fire Academy; former general contractor and partner, Waugh Construction Company; design draftsperson; assistant fire chief, Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company (1981-1993); elected, township supervisor, Shrewsbury Township (1989-1992); vice president, York County Association of Townships of the Second Class; member, York County Young Republicans; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1993 term and served 2 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1998); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1999-2013); appointed, Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee (1999-2004); appointed, Chesapeake Bay Commission (2001-2010; chair, 2005, vice-chair, 2006); appointed, Pennsylvania Farmland Preservation board; appointed, Pennsylvania Farm Show Commission; appointed, Joint State Government Commission (2007-2014); elected, Senate Majority Caucus Chair (2007-2014); resigned from the Senate, January of 2014; appointed, executive director, Pennsylvania State Farm Show (2014); died, October 8, 2014 in Glen Rock, York County, Pennsylvania.
