HOFFMAN, John N., a Representative from Northampton County; born in Baltimore, Md., July 18, 1872; attended, Peirce Business College; water boy on construction force, express clerk, chief clerk, general freight agent and private secretary to the president, Bangor and Portland Railroad (Lackawanna Railroad), (1886-1900);  secretary, East Bangor Consolidated Slate Company; secretary and general manager, Alpha and Pen Bangor Slate Companies (3 years); district manager, Structural Slate Company and Natural Slate Blackboard Company (19 years); secretary to council, Bangor (9 years); elected, council, Banger (8 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1921, 1939, 1943, 1945, and 1947 terms; appointed, Joint State Government Commission Sub-Committee on Tax Study (1945-1946); appointed, Post-High School Education Commission (1947-1948); unsuccessful campaigns for reelection to the House for the 1923, 1941 and 1949 terms; died, May 24, 1951 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Johns Cemetery, Bangor, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
