TAYLOR, Elinor Zimmerman “EZ,” a Representative from Chester County; born in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pa., April 18, 1921; B.S., West Chester State Teachers College (now West Chester University of Pennsylvanai), 1943; M.Ed., Temple University, 1958; honorary doctorate of public service, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, 1996; attended, Columbia University and University of Delaware; teacher, Ridley Park High School; teacher, West Chester High School; associate professor of Health and Physical Education (1955-1968), assistant dean of women (1968), acting dean of student affairs (1969), dean of administration (1970-1975), and professor emeritus, West Chester University of Pennsylvania; elected, council, West Chester (1974-1978); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1977 term; reelected to serve 14 consecutive terms thereafter; elected, Majority Caucus Secretary (1995-April 15, 2003); elected, Majority Caucus Chair (April 15, 2003-2006); appointed, board, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (1981-2006; vice-chair, 1991-1994; chair, 1995-2006); appointed, House Select Committee on Long Term Care (1986-1988); appointed, Select Committee to Study the Feasibility of a Harrisburg University (1990); appointed, vice-chair, House Select Committee on Violence (1994); appointed, Commission on Postsecondary Education for the 21st Century (1999-2000); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (2003-2006); PHEAA building dedicated, January 23, 2003, as the Elinor Z.
