PAYNE, John D., a Representative from Dauphin County; born in Hershey, Dauphin County, Pa., October 22, 1950; graduated, Hershey High School, 1969; attended, Harrisburg Area Community College, 1969-1970; attended, University of Maryland and University of Delaware, 1984-1994; served, United States Army and Pennsylvania National Guard (1971-1977); senior safety specialist, Hershey Foods (1971-2000); supervisor, Derry Township (1989-2000); elected, commissioner, Dauphin County (2000-2002); retired chief, Hershey Fire Department; warden, State Forestry Department; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2003 term and reelected to 6 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (2016); principal, state government relations, Buchanon Ingersoll & Rooney PC (2018-2022); government relations, One+ Strategies (2023-present).
